Like many other communities of faith, we at Hope United are not meeting face to face, but this does not prevent us from sharing our faith.

This week we will be hosting on the following on Zoom

Hope United Church Prayer Service

@ May 31, 2020 10:30 AM Atlantic Time (Canada)

Hope United Church Social Time

Time: May 31, 2020 11:15 AM Atlantic Time (Canada)

An order of service can be downloaded here so you can read along.

Zoom is a video conferencing software that allows you to share audio and video with other attendees. You can see and hear others in attendance, and they can see and hear from you if you choose.

Zoom meetings require a meeting invite that contains a meeting number and password. There have been many documented cases of pranksters attending Zoom meetings uninvited and sharing content that I am sure the church family would find offensive. For that reason, we are unable to publish the Zoom invite directly on our website.

If you have not received an emailed invite to the social time and would like one please contact Paul Verboom (Webmaster) by clicking this link.

The Zoom invite includes a link that you can click that will take you through the whole process of setting up ZOOM and joining the meeting, regardless of what type of device you have. So don't let the new technology put you off. And remember if you want to see the other church members we all need to turn on the camera in the ZOOM Meeting.

Hello folks,

The past few weeks have been very difficult for all of us, but given the challenges we’ve faced we’ve weathered them well and as a community have grown both stronger and closer as we’ve helped each other through. This has meant a lot of change for all of us as social distancing has forced us to adapt our traditions to the digital age in order to carry on with the work of worship and ministry in a meaningful way. And one of the many tiny little hiccups we’ve encountered along the way is how to handle my remaining vacation time. I have four weeks of it left to use before the end of June – and as there’s no way I want to be away from you for a whole month in midst of this crisis – we’ve had to improvise. As of this Sunday, I’ll be taking alternating weeks off until the end of May. This means that while there will continue to be music, Sunday School, etc. regularly provided for you on our Facebook page and website I will not be recording a worship service for our community on May 3rd, 17th, and 31st as I will be “away.” I will, however, continue to be available at all times for pastoral care – regardless of what week it is – as I want to be immediately accessible to you in case of emergency. So please don’t hesitate to call me just because I’m “off!” Hopefully, this will work for all of us, and ensure that when we’re finally allowed to gather again at Hope United that we will be able to do so without interruption for several months at least. Not that I’m looking forward to it our anything. J Thank you all so much.

Take care and God bless,

Rev. Sean
